A little about Our Lady of Fatima: The Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of God, appeared six times to three young shepherd children; Lucia, Francisco, and Jacinta; between May 13 and October 13, 1917. She came to the small village of Fatima in Portugal which had remained faithful despite the persecutions of Catholics by the government. Our Lady of Fatima promised that the whole world would be in peace, and that many souls would go to Heaven if her requests were listened to and obeyed. Word spread of these sightings and, on October 13, 1917, more than 70,000 people gathered for the miracle our Lady told the children would appear to prove they were telling the truth. On that day, the thousands watched the sun dance in the sky. Many non-believers converted when they saw this and a beautiful shrine was erected in Fatima following this miraculous day. The last of these three blessed children died in 2005, Lucia Dos Santos at the age of 97.
Our Lady of Fatima's feast day is May 13.
Prayer to Our Lady of Fatima
O Most Holy Virgin Mary,
Queen of the most holy Rosary,
you were pleased to appear to the children of Fatima and reveal a glorious message.
We implore you, inspire in our hearts a fervent love
for the recitation of the Rosary.
By meditating on the mysteries of the redemption that are recalled therein may we obtain the graces and virtues that we ask, through the merits of Jesus Christ,
our Lord and Redeemer.
Amen.
